When do I need a marriage license?

In Riverside County you must get your license before the marriage ceremony. Once you receive your license you may get married that same day! Otherwise you must be married within 90 days of the date the marriage license was issued.

Why do I need a marriage license?

To marry in California, the two parties may not be already married to each other or other individuals. Obtaining a marriage license is basically a way of legally stating you are not already married to someone else.
